Cedar Hill Rotary members were honored to welcome Rotary District 5810 Governor Mike Callahan for an official visit. DG Callahan shared his vision and priorities for the Rotary year, highlighting opportunities for service and engagement, and inspiring members with stories of Rotary’s impact both locally and globally. He expressed the importance of each club taking part in the unified theme of Rotary International President Olayinka “Yinka” Babalola's vision of “Creating Lasting Impact”, which centers on unleashing personal and collective change by focusing not just on project outcomes, but on the endearing, long-term difference those actions make in communities and within members themselves. It was a great meeting, and we look forward to supporting DG Callahan and the Prestonwood Rotary Club at their October 24th World Polio Walk.
Cedar Hill Rotary members were honored to welcome Rotary District 5810 Governor Mike Callahan during his official visit on July 27. His message was both encouraging and purposeful, reminding members that Rotary creates opportunities for everyday people to accomplish extraordinary things through service.
Callahan challenged members to remain connected to the “why” behind Rotary’s work and praised the Cedar Hill club’s continued growth and community involvement. He also emphasized the importance of cultivating the next generation of service-minded leaders through programs such as Interact and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). Interact introduces young people to leadership and community service, while RYLA provides intensive leadership-development experiences designed to build confidence, communication skills, and a commitment to positive change.
His remarks also echoed the 2026–27 vision of Rotary International President Olayinka Hakeem “Yinka” Babalola, who has called upon Rotarians worldwide to “Create Lasting Impact.” The message encourages clubs to look beyond the immediate completion of a project and consider the enduring difference their service can make in communities—and in the lives of Rotarians themselves.
That philosophy is evident in Rotary’s work around the world, including its decades-long commitment to polio eradication, as well as countless local humanitarian and community-service initiatives.
It was an inspiring visit and a meaningful reminder that Service Above Self is more than a motto—it is a call to action. Cedar Hill Rotary looks forward to supporting Governor Callahan and District 5810 at the World’s Largest Polio Walk on October 24.
